Ultherapy
Ultherapy
Ultherapy uses a device that delivers focused ultrasound while imaging tissue. NUA reviews facial fat, hollowness, skin thickness and treatment history before setting the area.
AT A GLANCE
Before you consider treatment.
- Imaging assessment
- The manufacturer's instructions distinguish tissue imaging from energy delivery. Checking the area and target depth is important.
- History before treatment
- Report wounds, skin conditions, metal or electronic implants, existing fillers and previous surgery in the area.
- Recovery progress
- Redness, swelling, pain and temporary nerve-related symptoms have been reported. Track where discomfort occurs and how it changes.
INDICATION
We begin with these concerns.
- Sagging along the jawline and lower face
- Changes in skin elasticity
- Distinguishing causes when sagging and hollowing appear together

OUR APPROACH
What NUA assesses first.
We do not apply the same treatment to every face. We review your condition and expectations, and the doctor decides the final plan.
- 01Skin thickness
- 02Fat volume
- 03Direction of sagging
- 04Bone structure
- 05Previous treatment history
Videos with explanations from our doctor will be added when ready.
| Condition to assess | Approach to discuss |
|---|---|
| Reduced skin elasticity | Elasticity treatments such as radiofrequency |
| Deeper tissue sagging | Depth-targeted treatment such as ultrasound |
| Fat and sagging together | Assess fat volume and contour together |
| Volume loss | Check whether lifting alone could accentuate hollowing |
PRINCIPLE
How do we approach it?
Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound energy while visualizing tissue with ultrasound imaging. Checking target depth and treatment area is important.
BEFORE TREATMENT
What to check first.
We check restrictions involving open wounds, severe acne, and electronic or metal implants in the treatment area.
We review previous fillers, surgery and facial fat. Redness, swelling, pain and temporary nerve-related symptoms have been reported. Korean device approval and medical judgment take precedence.
Individual contraindications and suitability are assessed during consultation.
AFTERCARE
From treatment to everyday life.
- Pain
- You may feel heat or a deeper sensation. Pain management depends on the device and area.
- Recovery
- Redness, swelling or tenderness may occur. Even non-invasive treatment needs recovery planning before important events.
- Effects & duration
- Changes may develop over several months. Duration and repeat-treatment timing depend on the device and skin condition.
What to watch for day to day
- Contact the medical team if altered sensation or pain persists or worsens, rather than simply waiting.
- Do not judge the final outcome from immediate photos alone. Compare progress at the time agreed in consultation.
Questions before your consultation.
01Can I have Ultherapy with hollow cheeks?
We first assess fat volume and hollowing. Stronger energy does not suit every face; we may change the area or method, or recommend no treatment.
02What differs between Ultherapy, Thermage and InMode?
Energy types, devices and handpieces differ. We compare target tissue, skin thickness and fat rather than ranking by name.
03What does Ultherapy's ultrasound imaging do?
It helps identify the tissue receiving energy, assessing actual tissue and contact rather than only visible sagging.
04Can an area with filler be assessed?
Suitability depends on the product, location and timing. Share previous filler details first.
05Do equal shot counts give equal results?
Facial structure, area and plan differ, so shot counts alone cannot compare results.
06Can I see the final result immediately after Ultherapy?
Immediate reactions differ from later tissue changes. Discuss when to review progress and whether further treatment is needed.
07What health information should I share in advance?
We check restrictions involving open wounds, severe acne, and electronic or metal implants in the treatment area. We review previous fillers, surgery and facial fat. Redness, swelling, pain and temporary nerve-related symptoms have been reported. Korean device approval and medical judgment take precedence.
08How do we discuss pain management?
You may feel heat or a deeper sensation. Pain management depends on the device and area.
