Botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin injections temporarily reduce muscle movement. Expression lines are distinguished from lines visible at rest; the goal differs from volume-adding fillers.
AT A GLANCE
Before you consider treatment.
- Observe movement first
- We assess expression changes in the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes. Lines remaining at rest may need another approach.
- Not a permanent change
- AAD explains that cosmetic toxin effects often last around 3–4 months. Actual duration varies by product, area and individual response.
- Past treatment & medication
- Share previous product names, dates and areas. We also check muscle-related conditions, pregnancy, breastfeeding and medicines.
INDICATION
We begin with these concerns.
- Wrinkles that become prominent with expression
- Aesthetic concerns linked to muscle movement

OUR APPROACH
What NUA assesses first.
We do not apply the same treatment to every face. We review your condition and expectations, and the doctor decides the final plan.
- 01Facial muscle movement
- 02Left-right differences
- 03Wrinkles present at rest
- 04Areas and timing of previous toxin injections
Videos with explanations from our doctor will be added when ready.
PRINCIPLE
How do we approach it?
Botulinum toxin temporarily inhibits signals from nerves to muscles, reducing muscle movement. Its purpose differs from fillers that add volume.
BEFORE TREATMENT
What to check first.
Tell us about neuromuscular conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies and medications.
We check for infection at the treatment site. Unwanted muscle weakness or eyelid drooping may occur.
Individual contraindications and suitability are assessed during consultation.
AFTERCARE
From treatment to everyday life.
- Pain
- Injection may sting, with possible bruising or tenderness.
- Recovery
- Many people can resume daily activities, but follow medical instructions about touching the area and returning to exercise.
- Effects & duration
- Effects develop gradually and are not permanent. We discuss the next session after assessing your response and muscles.
What to watch for day to day
- Bruising or tenderness may occur at injection sites. Follow instructions about rubbing and returning to activities.
- Contact the medical team if unexpected muscle weakness or eyelid drooping occurs.
Questions before your consultation.
01Will I lose my expressions?
We first assess expression movement and your goals. We discuss what natural-looking means to you, but cannot guarantee a result.
02Can toxin alone remove deep wrinkles?
We need to distinguish movement-related wrinkles from lines that remain at rest. The approach depends on the cause.
03How do I choose between toxin and filler?
First distinguish muscle movement from volume loss or fixed lines. Even in the same area, the choice depends on the goal.
04Must toxin injections be repeated regularly?
We do not apply a fixed count to everyone. Repeat treatment is discussed after reviewing returning movement and your goals.
05Should I mention products used at other clinics?
Yes. Previous products, dates, areas and unwanted reactions help us plan the next treatment.
06Are skin and muscle toxin treatments planned the same way?
NUA treats them as separate consultation areas, confirming the target area, desired change and technique before planning.
07What health information should I share in advance?
Tell us about neuromuscular conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies and medications. We check for infection at the treatment site. Unwanted muscle weakness or eyelid drooping may occur.
08How do we discuss pain management?
Injection may sting, with possible bruising or tenderness.
